23 nations will participate in the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup. The 14 lowest-ranked teams according to the April edition of the FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking will participate in single-leg play-offs ahead of the tournament, which will be held later this year.
The play-offs were decided according to the rankings. Therefore, Lebanon (93) will face Djibouti (183). The match will take place after 21 November.
The 16 teams will be split into four groups of four, with the top two from each progressing to the quarter-finals. Matches will be played at six FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™ tournament venues.
Lebanon have been drawn in group D alongside Algeria (33), Egypt (46), Libya (119) or Sudan (123).
This will be the first time we face Djibouti in our history.
We have faced Algeria 3 times before. We lost one game and drew the other two. While we faced Egypt 8 times, losing 6 times and not winning at all.
Against Libya, we played 6 games, each team winning 3 games. While facing Sudan, we drew 2 games out of 3 and lost the third one.
Our games in the tournament will be as following:
Vs Egypt — December 1 at 4pm
Vs Algeria — December 4 at 4pm
Vs Libya / Sudan — December 7 at 10pm
In the 9 past Arab Cups, Lebanon participated in 7 of them. The cedars played 30 games,won 10 of them and lost 13. During the history of this competition, Lebanon scored 37 goals and conceeded 40.
