After North Korea’s confirmed withdrawal from the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, FIFA has announced that all previous North Korea’s group games will be declared void; as if they were never played.
This decision means that Lebanon is now second of the group, with 7 points, due to goal difference with South Korea and 1 point ahead of Turkmenistan.
In addition to that, to determine the best runner-ups, results between second placed teams and the last team in the groups will not be calculated. This should eliminate any imbalance when deciding who are the 4 (or 5 if Qatar qualified) teams that will proceed to the third round.
Even though the games are declared void, they are still considered official matches and are still calculated in the FIFA Ranking.
