Lebanon will face Djibouti on June 23 in the 2021 FIFA Arab Cup qualifiers.
Djibouti is currently ranked 183 in the FIFA Rankings. Lebanon are the heavy favorites of the game, ranked 93, but the Cedars must be careful.
The French Julien Mette is the coach of Djibouti since March 2019. In an interview with Les Olympiques, he explained his strategy: “I adapt our 3-4-3 to cause more problems. For example, we try to play high and not wait for the opponent in the back.”
Djibouti resumed training three weeks ago. They played this week their first game in 2021 and won 1-0 against Somalia. They planned to face Mauritania in a friendly game in Qatar but it didn’t happen.
Julien Mette won’t be able to count on Warsama Hassan, the midfielder of Slovakian club ŠKF Sereď. He is the first and only Djibouti player in a first division league in Europe.
