When will the 2022 world cup qualifiers be played?

An official source in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) revealed to the well-known Saudi newspaper “Al-Riyadiah” that a meeting will be held this Tuesday to approve the following decision:

The joint qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup and the 2023 AFC Asian Cup to be played from May 31 to June 15 2021.

If this decision takes place, Lebanon will not play Turkmenistan in March, but will play all of its remaining matches in one venue. Such a decision might be beneficial for our national team as it will allow more preparation time. More so, Ahed and Ansar will play the AFC Cup group games in May. It also means that South Korea will have to play Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka and then North Korea before facing the Cedars. Lebanon’s calendar will face Turkmenistan, Sri Lanka and South Korea.
